About Out Of Afrika
Out Of Afrika is a registered charity founded in UK, and NGO in Kenya. We work at grass root level promoting education to orphans, disadvantaged children, youth and women. this area of kenya is neglected by the international aid agencies and has one of the highest HIV/AIDS infections IN KENYA
We work with locally based community groups to identify the need and establish projects as follows:
- Child Sponsorship Program
- Vocational skills Training
- Providing basic school resources
- Sending volunteers to share and pass on their skills
- Improving school infrastructure
- Providing affordable computer equipment
- Environmental projects
- HIV/AIDS education, guidance/counselling
- ICT/development and creating resource centres
One of our aims is to improve the social economic independence of the community through sustainable projects. Learning a skill will give them the opportunity to run their own income generating business, or gain employment, lifting them from poverty and making them self sufficient. The women’s groups we work with are in rural areas where the only employment is casual labour.
..."We believe that every child has the basic human right of education, health care, a safe home environment, adequate food and clothing." ...OOA Director
| Education is an investment, the right of every child. By investing in their future we are making a long term and sustainable investment in them and that of the country. In the long term, educating children is one way to eradicate poverty. Education will ensure that young people will be actively engaged in their development and live in a economically, socially sustaining, safe and healthy environment.
