OUT OF AFRIKA
VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME
Are you looking for ways to make a difference while gaining relevant work
experience to add to your resume? Do you want to learn new skills? Do you want
to explore potential career areas? You can accomplish all of this, and more, by
volunteering your skills in Africa.
Volunteering in Africa can be one of the most rewarding and best investments you
can make with your time. Whether you would like to take a short volunteer
vacation or a prolonged gap year, Out of Afrika provides challenging and
affordable programs in Kenya.
Volunteers can
participate in most of the programs anytime of year. Special skills,
professional qualifications or previous experience are not required of
volunteers in the programs except the health care and computer training programs
and a few other programs.
The main attributes needed are initiative, drive, motivation, patience and
compassion to help the under-privileged in overcoming their challenges.
Volunteers should have a strong work ethic, ability to work independently or as
part of a team, and willingness to follow direction; and good interpersonal
skills, flexibility, and a sense of humour. Participating in our projects in
Kenya will offer you the opportunity to help others and make the world a better
place to live. It is a positive way to contribute to the local community while
you gain experience and foster personal growth.
Volunteering offers the opportunity in acquiring a valuable work experience and
putting into use your creative skills. You will experience a new culture, make
new friends, learn the local language, experience the local food and Kenya's
unique hospitality.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi”
Helping others to become self-reliant
People have many reasons for volunteering in Africa. Many want to help others
and some are looking for ways to be involved or to make the world a better
place. Our volunteers get first hand information about the social and economic
problems facing Africa like poverty, hunger, malnutrition, disease, unemployment
and environmental degradation.
Personal Growth
and Satisfaction
Besides helping others, as a volunteer you will contribute considerably to your
own career development. Volunteering can help you more clearly define your
career path, while enhancing existing skills or developing a variety of new
skills. You will gain hands-on experience as you become more knowledgeable about
the way of life. Past volunteers have achieved personal satisfaction and
increased confidence through making a direct impact on another person’s life.
Our volunteers have
made a real difference in the fight against poverty working in community
projects in Kenya. some have commented that...... ..."It has great been a great
way to contribute to the local community while you gain experience and fosters
personal growth".....
Travel
opportunities whilst volunteering
Kenya is still the primary focus of all adventure travel in Africa. It is one of
the finest and undoubtedly the most famous safari destinations in the world.
Safari, however, is by no means the only reason to visit Kenya, for the
attractions of its rich culture and diverse environment are considerable.
Past Volunteers
We have previous volunteers’ stories of their experiences on our website and we
also welcome potential volunteers to make contact for first hand information on
our programs in Kenya.
